For twenty-five years the college degree was useful for business presentations, letters and personal communications. In my mid-fifties with the encouragement of my mother, I began writing nonfiction short stories, odes, spoofs and guideposts.
My wife and I were married for forty-two years until she died from cancer. Months later I saw a friend, Rona. Four years before, I wrote a short story about her. A year later we were married, and she encouraged and organized my writing endeavors. We split our time between Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kalaheo, Hawaii.
To hone writing skills, I joined the Colorado Word Weavers chapter and later connected with an online group. In fifteen years, short stories, odes and guideposts number three hundred with a book Who’s in Charge Here? published on Amazon. The website is for posting writings as God nudged me that the individual story was more important than selling books. Each story ends with a Bible address and questions/comments to ponder. If readers want to know what the verses say, they will look them up! The purpose of all stories is to encourage, empower, inspire, entertain and give opportunities to laugh and smile.
My hope is encouraging the soul! Whether readers are searching for God’s truth, looking for a smile or seeking affirmation as a Jesus follower, I am only His messenger.
